When I was eight years old…

…my dad took me and my older brother to see Ridley Scott’s Gladiator; my first R Rated film. I was hooked. By Twelve I was being dropped off at the local cinema by my mom. She would give me her cell phone, and I would bounce around from theater to theater movie hopping, and watching every single film I could.

As I grew up in the suburbs of Detroit, making short films, acting in our high school and community shows, all I could think about was filmmaking. I went to DePaul University in Chicago, IL for four long years before I was able to move across the country to Los Angeles.

I have been in Los Angeles for nearly a decade. I am currently working as an Assistant Editor at a commercial production company. Over the years I have worked in every aspect of production. From a pre-production editor on Ash Vs. Evil Dead, to being a Director’s Assistant on Fede Alvarez’s The Girl In The Spider’s Web. The film industry has given me my highest highs and lowest lows. And I am just getting started.

I fell in love with the possibilities of cinema. In my own films I strive to tell emotional, dramatic tales elevated into the fantastical.

My name is Ben Sherman and I am a filmmaker.
